FAQ

Questions schools ask.

Funding, scheduling, staffing, and what happens in class. If your question isn’t here, ask us anything.

01

Funding

Yes. Our music, dance, and martial arts programs plug into ELOP sites after school, before school and intersession, and support California’s Quality Standards for Expanded Learning. We staff to ELOP ratios and provide attendance records and session summaries for your reporting.

Yes. Prop 28 (Arts and Music in Schools) can fund partnerships with community arts organizations that expand a school’s arts instruction. Most districts must spend at least 80% of their Prop 28 funds on staff, but they can ask the California Department of Education to waive that rule. Contact us and we’ll walk you through it. We also provide documentation for your plan and annual report. Funding rules vary, so please confirm with your district.

Programs & classes

TK–12. Every program has editions for younger and older students, and mixed-age groups are welcome.

Every class opens with community agreements and closes with reflection, and every program maps to the five CASEL competencies and the CDE SEL Guiding Principles. Students practice teamwork, self-control, and empathy while they play, dance, train, and perform.

After school (ELOP), we keep a 20:1 student-to-staff ratio, or 10:1 for TK and kindergarten. For in-school classes (Prop 28), we teach full classes of up to 35 students, with the classroom teacher in the room. For bigger after-school groups we can discuss adding additional support to keep us compliant.

No. Every program is built for beginners, with ways to challenge experienced students. Comfortable clothes they can move in are perfect.

Working with us

Yes. Book a 1 or 2 week workshop to see what Culture Club is all about. It could be as little as one hour on campus to get introduced.

Just a space: a classroom, MPR or blacktop! Our teaching artists bring everything they need to teach and are flexible with whatever space you can provide.

Every teaching artist is Live Scan (DOJ and FBI) and TB cleared, and completes mandated reporter training annually.
